In La Défense, Eiffage Construction is responsible for the spectacular transformation of the HOPEN tower, a high-rise building that was completely restructured to meet the new needs of the service sector.
Designed as a sustainable, multifunctional place to live, the tower embodies the Group's technical and environmental expertise in building for the future.
A transformed high-rise building
Designed by the Ateliers 2/3/4 agency, with Orfeo Développement as delegated project owner, this heavy restructuring took this high-rise building from 63,000 to 66,515 m² of floor area.
The tower was raised by three storeys and extended laterally across 26 storeys using a steel structure, bringing the total to 48 storeys capable of accommodating up to 7,400 people.
Managed by Eiffage Construction, the project mobilised a wide range of in-house and partner expertise, including Group subsidiary Goyer for the façades.
A concentrate of uses and services
Designed as a real place to live, the HOPEN tower offers a diversified and scalable range of services:
- 58,000 m² of flexible office space
- 23 hanging gardens
- A roof top open to the public
- Co-working spaces and meeting centres
- An auditorium, a fitness room and a wellness area
- Two company restaurants, cafés and food courts open to all
Each space has been designed to adapt to the needs of its users, with a service-oriented and inclusive approach.
Exemplary environmental performance
Beyond its technical prowess, the HOPEN tower stands out for its ambitious environmental approach:
- Conservation and reuse of many existing elements: concrete technical floors, façade elements, etc.
- Integration of bio-based materials
- Reduced carbon impact over the entire life cycle of the building
The project aims to achieve the highest levels of certification:
- HQE Sustainable Building Excellent
- BREEAM RFO Excellent
- WELL v2 Core Gold
- Ready to Osmoz
- R2S 2 stars
- WiredScore Platinum
An extraordinary project
One of the highlights of the project was the installation of a tower crane on the 26th floor, at a height of 222 metres, using a 750-tonne mobile crane. A logistical feat that stands out in the landscape of the La Défense district.
With 34 months of work and up to 500 workers active simultaneously, the site also totalled more than 85,000 hours of access-to-work programmes, confirming Eiffage Construction'scommitment to society.
