Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin)Sensations wood island

A demonstrator project for low-carbon timber construction

The Sensations wood island is part of the Strasbourg Métropole Deux Rives EcoCité development project.

This exceptional complex is a low-carbon wood construction demonstrator, the tallest in France at the time of its inauguration, at 38 m high.

It comprises three buildings with wooden central cores, such as the floors, load-bearing partition walls and façade (CLT cross-laminated timber). The post-and-beam structure is made of glued laminated timber.

The largest building has 11 storeys and the other two have 8 storeys. It will house 146 dwellings with shops at the foot of the building.
