Metz (Moselle)Centre Metz Congrès Robert Schuman:A flagship project for the Grand-Est region

A regional convention centre

With a surface area of 15,300 m², the Metz Robert Schuman Convention centre is a new facility decided on by the Metz Métropole conurbation and the city of Metz.

Located next to the station and close to the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the building is a link between the historical city centre and the new Amphitheatre district. It embodies the metropolis of Metz in the future.

To meet this ambition, in 2014 Eiffage Construction – in association with Wilmotte & Associés Architectes – was appointed leader of the design-build-operate-maintain (DBOM) consortium, with delivery scheduled for 2018.

Eiffage Energie was responsible for the technical work packages, while Eiffage Services will maintain the building for 25 years.

A lively and attractive place to visit

A 1,000 m² exhibition space on the ground floor leads to the Passage de l'Amphithéâtre. It is adjacent to the entrances to the centre's three floors.

The first floor features a 1,200-seat auditorium and a 210-stand exhibition area with a view of the Centre Pompidou-Metz.

The upper levels house committee rooms, a balcony and areas for dining and relaxing.

Employment: an exemplary project

As one of the company's core values, Eiffage Construction has committed to employing 30,000 people on social enterprise schemes for the duration of the project, equivalent to 18 FTEs (full-time equivalents).

The scheme benefits young people under 26 with no work experience, the long-term unemployed, senior citizens and workers with disabilities.

Up to 35% of the total cost of the work was entrusted to local companies, VSEs and SMEs.
