One of Europe's largest shopping centres
The project arose from the ambition of global retail property operator Apsys to develop a modern 320,000 m² NFA shopping centre in Poznań (Poland), the Group's spearhead in Eastern Europe.
As a long-standing partner of Apsys, Eiffage Construction was involved in this exemplary project, to which every superlative applies, carrying out this 27-month project as general contractor, involving 1,100 employees and up to 3,000 workers at peak.
This unusual project is a showcase for Eiffage Construction's expertise, combining human resources, technical prowess and architectural challenge.
... to an XXL project
Posnania is imposing in size: 100,000 m² of effective retail space, 305 outlets, 30 carpets and escalators, 22 elevators, 13 works of art, 22 screens and digital walls, a conference room, a multiplex cinema with 8 screens, a fitness room, a swimming pool and 3,300 parking spaces.
Every effort was made to offer visitors a unique experience. Apsys Lab thought of everything to combine comfort and emotion, connected and energising spaces, works of art, high-end services, immersive video and digital animations, etc.
From an XXL site...
Eiffage Construction pulled out all the stops to build this showcase on time. The earthworks generated 240,000 m² of material to be removed. 143,000 m3 of concrete were poured.
1,000 m² of net floor area – all types combined – were produced on a daily basis, using 14 cranes simultaneously, in complete safety.
200 subcontractors and 300 suppliers participated. 1,400,000 hours of work were recorded in the structure phase.
A precise construction schedule
After hundreds of hours of design work by Eiffage Construction engineers, each part was put in its right place, qualified and labelled, then integrated into the project according to a precise and scrupulously respected schedule.
75,000 m² of honeycomb slabs
The honeycomb slabs, the prefabricated reinforced concrete elements that make up the active part of the basement, were laid in their final position using a tower crane, under the watchful eye of the site workers.
Sustained pace
The pace of structural work was sustained. It required appropriate organisation for the daily production of almost 1,000 m² of floor space.
Work sessions covering all phases of the project and all trades were held to review the progress of the work and ensure that deadlines and specifications were met.
19,700 m² of marble and wood
The many aisles that Posnania customers walk through have been carefully designed.
In all, 19,700 m² of marble and wood were meticulously laid by carpenters and marble masons.
The Posnania logo is reproduced in black marble on a white background on the floor of the rotunda and atrium, like a coat of arms bearing the city's coat of arms.
