Eiffage Polska wins the public tender for the modernisation of Krakow's municipal stadium

On 8 December, Eiffage Polska Budownictwo won the public tender for the modernisation of the Krakow municipal stadium, which will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the third European Games (a multi-sport competition) from 21 June to 2 July 2023. The programme of this vast project includes the renovation of the 11,500 m2 façade, the replacement of windows and doors and the modernisation of the HVAC equipment with the deployment of energy-saving solutions.

Krakow is the former capital of Poland and the country's second largest city. With its historic architecture and centuries of history, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

The Henryk-Reyman stadium, built between 2004 and 2011, covers more than 21,150 m2, is almost 35 m high and can accommodate almost 33,000 spectators. It is located in the western part of the city, close to the historic centre. With its four covered stands and media pavilion, it is owned by the City of Kraków and used by the Wisła Kraków football team.

Architecturally, the modernisation of the building will focus on the new façade. It is planned to replace the windows, doors and improve the overall aesthetics, so that the facility will be more impressive from the outside. The changes also aim to make the stadium energy efficient.

For the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) system, it is planned to replace the air handling units located on the facades and to upgrade the ventilation system in the stairwells. The project also includes a complete upgrade of the fire alarm system.

"We are proud that the result of our work will once again be part of the Krakow landscape. We would like to thank the city for the trust it has placed in us by entrusting us with this task and we are fully prepared to carry it out. Although the project may pose many challenges, we are ready to meet them. We will carry out the work according to the "design and build" system, which allows us to adapt dynamically to changing conditions, both technical and weather-related. We are delighted to be able to use our many years of experience to help the city in its preparations for the next European Games, which will be inaugurated on the pitch of the modernised Henryk Reyman municipal stadium in just a few months!" Marek Kowalik, Regional Director South, Eiffage Polska

The project, which began on 8 December 2022, will require the intervention of 100 workers and should be completed by the end of May 2023. A big thank you to our Polish teams for winning this contract!
