Eiffage Construction, as leader of the consortium with Eiffage Energie Systèmes, the architectural firm Clé Millet, the design office Betem and the scenographer Thierry Guignard, has won the second phase of the renovation work on the emblematic Palais Chaillot, Théâtre Nationale de la Danse, located on the Place du Trocadéro in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. The "VILAR project" covers an area of 8,900 m² (spread over 7 floors) including the Jean Vilar auditorium - with 1168 seats -, numerous technical rooms, the creation of a 380 m² rehearsal studio, the renovation of dressing rooms, offices and technical rooms.
The Palais de Chaillot theatre is an emblematic place of French culture and a flagship public facility of Parisian life. An "Art Deco" building, consisting of two neo-classical pavilions separated by an esplanade, it was built for the 1937 Universal Exhibition and is protected as a Historic Monument.
Eiffage Construction had already been entrusted with the demolition and structural work package for the renovation of the Musée National de la Marine. The monument is part of the government's recovery plan and includes performance commitments on energy, environmental and technical aspects. Eiffage Energie Systèmes, which is in charge of the high and low voltage electrical work packages as well as the audiovisual equipment for the stage area, will contribute to improving the building's performance and enhancing the value of the Jean Vilar Hall.
The main aims of the restructuring are
- the comfort of spectators via significantly improved visibility, seating comfort, acoustic comfort and thermal comfort;
- the comfort of the artists via a resized stage area for dance and a rehearsal room;
- the comfort of the technicians via a modernisation of the technical installations, an extension and a redistribution of the ancillary premises;
- the improvement of energy performance.
The works, carried out on an occupied site, will be adapted to the calendar of events linked to the Paris Games. The work will begin in January 2023 and will be temporarily suspended to ensure the smooth running of the competitions. They will end in the autumn of 2025, thus providing one of the most modern and efficient venues in Europe.
