B3 Ecodesign, the specialist in the construction of shipping container buildings
Specialising in low-carbon and sustainable modular construction, B3 Ecodesign has been part of Eiffage Construction since the end of 2019 and has enjoyed great success.
It uses the technique of upcycling end-of-life shipping containers to create housing, offices, shops, medical centres, restaurants, and more.
In late 2020 in Périgueux, emergency housing for 62 people was delivered to Synonim, a Nexity subsidiary. Sold to social landlord Domofrance, Halte 24 was entrusted with running the business.

Modular construction, an innovative solution with many advantages
Using shipping containers, the construction method applied is modular. It offers a number of advantages:
- Industrial-scale production in exceptional deadlines (9 months, including 3 months in the workshop, for the Périgueux project).
- A reduced carbon footprint (attractive energy performance and less on-site transport)
- Optimum quality
- Numerous variations on all types of buildings thanks to a modular process.
This solution is one of a number of initiatives taken by Eiffage Construction as part of the low carbon approach developed by the Eiffage Group and rolled out across our business lines.
Environmental and social mission in Périgueux
As well as meeting requirements in terms of sustainable development, the operation in Périgueux fulfils a societal mission.
51 "last-way" shipping containers were pre-equipped in the workshop and since the end of 2020, have accommodated 62 people in emergency situations.
The units were designed by Moonarchitectures and can be adapted to suit a range of needs: families, single people living independently or those on a social employment programme.
The location is intended to be welcoming and encourage living together with communal spaces, relaxation and dining areas, and an office space.
