In Bordeaux, Eiffage Construction will build the ESSCA campus on a historic 18th century military site

Our teams in the South-West have just signed a new contract with ESSCA Business School under the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the general contracting of a building located in Bordeaux, in the development zone Bastide Niel. The contract was signed at the end of April in the presence of Thierry Fouchereau, ESSCA's Secretary General, Jean Philippe Renier, Director of Avenir Déconstruction (co-contractor for the demolition lot), and Giuseppe Calaciura, Eiffage Construction Nord-Aquitaine.

This new Bordeaux campus with a mixed steel-concrete structure will cover an area of more than 4,800sqm spread over 8 levels, and will be built in the former Officers' Mess building of the Niel barracks, whose Napoleonic stone facades will be preserved.

The building is designed by Patrick Vacher and Guiraud-Manenc Architecte and is in line with the vision of Winy Maas, the urban planning architect for the development zone and founder of the MVRDV firm. The project aims to reinvent the historic architecture of the site: the addition of glass and reconstituted stone cladding on the upper levels, as an over-façade and over-covering on the roof, while retaining the period elements on the lower part, will make it unique!

In addition to being an architectural example, the highly technical site will be the subject of two technical assessment of experimentation:

  • one for the pinched fins (which will be carried by Coveris),
  • the other for the Vetisol Cristo reconstituted marble (to be carried by SMAC) on a waterproofed steel sheet using the Surfa5 process, a technique for installing photovoltaic panels on waterproofing, used in this case for the installation of over-covering.

Congratulations to the teams for this beautiful operation which will be delivered in spring 2023, and thanks to our partners:
