B3 Ecodesign delivers 8 houses made of old containers and labeled Passivhaus, a first in Rennes

B3 Ecodesign, a subsidiary of Eiffage Construction, inaugurated on Friday 18 September 2020 8 passive houses of a little more than 100 m2 each, realized as part of the Techni-Color operation conducted in design-realization, in the presence of the mayor of Acigné. This is a first in Rennes! Specializing in the recycling of old marine containers, B3 Ecodesign has achieved this set in a record time of just 7 months.

This first set of T4 houses with garden are located in the heart of the ZAC du Champ du Botrel 1 in Acigné, a municipality bordering Rennes. Identical in R+1 configuration, each house consists of four 40-foot containers completely redesigned and fitted out to offer the largest possible living spaces.

As for architecture, 2A Design has imagined a wooden underfloor that comes to carry a staggered floor emphasizing its geometry. The facades alternate between corrugated sheet and wood cladding, in a colorimetry affirming the uniqueness of this real estate complex.

Labelled Passivhaus (German Energy Performance Label), the 8 houses have excellent energy performance. Their constructive methodology also contributes to their low environmental impact.

Eiffage Construction acquired B3 Ecodesign in July 2019 to strengthen its industrialized construction capacity and enrich its range of low-carbon building solutions. Created since 10 years, B3 Ecodesign is the only French company of industrial processes 3D from sea containers, active on all types of real estate: residential, tertiary, shops and public facilities.
