Eiffage Construction chosen for the energy refurbishment of five school groups in Brest

On February 15th, the SPL Brest Métropole Aménagement notified the start of the studies of a Public Global Performance Market for the teams of Eiffage Construction Bretagne, in association with the energy engineering office Armoën, the A3 Argouarch Architectes Associés, the asbestos deacturer AD ingé and Engie Cofely for the maintenance services.

This 11-and-a-half-year contract is the first energy retrofit programme for five schools in the city of Brest. Built in the 1960s, these schools, with a total area of 15,200 m², are among the city’s most energy-intensive heritage buildings.

The group’s commitment to energy performance is aimed at a 35% reduction in energy consumption, leading to a “B label” for consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

All schools will benefit from energy retrofits such as heating, hot water, ventilation and lighting; change of exterior joinery; thermal insulation by the exterior; the whole piloted by a centralised Technical Management (CTM). In addition, the architectural components freely expressed around a common denominator "the child’s drawing", give back to the five schools "attractiveness, visibility and identity".

The construction site, led by the Eiffage Construction Bretagne teams, will take place over three years, due to two school groups renovated per year, free site and/or occupied. The programme also includes training and awareness-raising activities, essential in the energy transition process, relayed with a local partnership, the association “Les petits débrouillards”.

Work will begin in the summer of 2019 with a contract end in July 2030.
