Last April 27th, the first part of the renovaytion of Grand Hôtel God representing 3/5 of the operation opened its doors to the public after 4 years of renovation work. The previous evening the site was inaugurated in the presence of the Home Secretary Gérard Collomb as well as the president of the Metropolis and the Mayor of Lyon.
The rehabilitation of the Grand Hôtel-Dieu of Lyon, ambitious construction work and off standard, was realized by Eiffage Immobilier and Eiffage Construction.Crédit Agricole Assurances and Crédit Agricole Centre-Est are the buyers of the building.
Biggest private initiative of renovation of an Ancient memorial to this day in France, this operation aims at transforming a former hospital, which the first buildings go back to the XVIIth century, in a space of business, restoration, hotel business, common center and offices.
The reconversion of Grand Hôtel-Dieu of Lyon, city classified by the UNESCO in the world heritage of the humanity, values this architectural heritage and restores life in this symbolic building. Besides a reconversion aiming to give again to the built and the outsides all their majesty, Eiffage, and his partner Generim, are proud to contribute to make this major historic site a new district to live at the center of the Peninsula of Lyon.
On Friday, May 27th, 42.000 m ² of renovated buildings, 10.000 m ² of new buildings and 8000 m ² of yards and gardens were opened to the public.
It will be necessary to wait for the spring, 2019 for the opening of the five stars Intercontinental hotel of 143 rooms, where the lobby-bar will be located under the big 32 meters high Dome of Soufflot, and the inauguration of the City of the Gastronomy: 3.600 m² dedicated to food and health.
