Duchêne finishes the wooden extension of a secondary school near Namur, just in time for the students' first exams!

A few weeks ago, the teams of Duchêne, a subsidiary of Eiffage Benelux, finished the extension of the Da Vinci College in Perwez between Namur and Brussels, allowing the pupils to take their first exams in the classrooms! The building and carpentry teams collaborated extensively on this project: the insulated wooden roof boxes were made and installed by the carpentry team.

These new buildings of approximately 2,000 m² have made it possible to expand the school, which now has 2 laboratories, some twenty classrooms, a library and a lift. In addition to the structural work and the interior finishing touches, the exterior fittings were also completed: flooring, stairs, planting, canopy, etc.

Duchêne's carpentry workshop played a major role in this project, as it produced (based on 3D drawings) and installed all the insulated wooden roof boxes, representing approximately 1,600 m².

Duchêne also carried out all the studies (stability, design, etc.) in order to provide technical solutions. The roof boxes are wooden structures manufactured at the joinery on the basis of 3D drawings. On the underside, there is an OSB (multi-layer panel mainly made of wood chips) and a wooden structure insulated with glass wool. The carpentry teams also produced the CLT walls, some of the interior joinery and the wooden cladding.

As for the architecture, the Arter agency designed the project, whose rather unusual exterior configuration, consisting of several small, separate and colourful buildings, required a complex underground network.

The work around the school was also awarded to Duchêne by the client, who was satisfied with the progress of the work on the main site.

Congratulations to the whole team!
