Strasbourg: a new sports complex dedicated to basketball will see the light of day!

The Bas-Rhin County Basketball Committee entrusts Eiffage Construction teams with the realization of its future «Basket Center» as part of a design-realization contract. Located in the heart of the Meinau district of Strasbourg, this new sporting equipment is eagerly awaited by the inhabitants of the region since it will be the first space primarily dedicated to the Basketball of the Greater East region.

The Basket Center is an innovative project that will make it possible to give a different offer from the practice of Basketball in all its forms in Strasbourg, especially around the «3 against 3» that will become Olympic sport from 2020 in Tokyo.

The work of this project, which has been under development for four years, has been entrusted to Eiffage Construction Strasbourg, general company and representative of the Oslo Architects group for the project management and the design firm.

With a total surface area of 3000 m², the Basket center is strategically located on a very busy artery of the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg (Avenue de Colmar), opposite the Stade de la Meinau. The sports complex will be intended for all those who want to play basketball, but also for school groups (school, colleges, high schools, university) for the practice of sport (basketball, rock climbing, badminton, volleyball). The 2000 m² gym, made of metal frame, will offer three basketball courts. In order to allow a multi-sport practice, these fields can also be transformed into volleyball or badminton fields. The structure will also offer a climbing wall for school or amateur practice.
Finally, the building will house the offices of the county basketball committee, as well as a dining area and a commercial space. These last two premises are destined to be marketed by the departmental committee.

The building will benefit from a thermal performance level in accordance with the 2012 RT - 10%.

The project is expected to start in November for delivery in October 2020.
