Happy New Year and... good health! Eiffage Construction wins the first phase of the reconstruction of Caen University Teaching Hospital

Eiffage Construction keeps Basse-Normandie healthy! Our teams have just won the contract for the first phase of reconstruction of Caen University Hospital, a new hospital facility that covers the construction of the Logistics, Administration, Pharmacy and Biology buildings.

The project of the new University Hospital of Caen will be carried out in two distinct phases:

  • the anticipated phase (first phase), which our teams have just signed and which includes the Biology building on the one hand and the Pharmacy & Administration Logistics building on the other hand;
  • the main phase, which will concern the heart of the hospital: the consultation/day hospital buildings, the medical technical platform and accommodation, and the establishments open to the public.

The project designed by the firm AIA Architects and Diagram architectes urbanistes combines modernity and aesthetics. It extends in a harmonious and uncluttered manner, organised around interior patios, as well as the Oasis, an exterior green setting located between the buildings.

On the environmental side, the building will meet the requirements of the RT 2012 and a High Environmental Quality (HQE) approach will be integrated at each stage of the project.
The works, worth €28.6 million excluding VAT, will start next April, last 2 years and involve up to 100 site workers during the peak phase of the project.

This new contract shows once again the confidence of the hospital sector in the competence of our teams in western France : in December 2020, we delivered the radiotherapy bunkers for the Bretonneau University Hospital in Tours and, at the same time, Brest University Hospital has just confirmed the launch of work on its Institute of Cancerology and Imaging.

Congrats to the teams and thanks to our partners: Caen Normandie University Hospital, Icade, AIA, SOGETI INGENIERIE, Intégral Ruedi Baur.
