Eiffage wins, in a joint venture, the second tranche of the Opération Campus Bordeaux project worth almost €58 million

Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Construction, has signed a global public performance contract with the University of Bordeaux’s property and development company to renovate a group of buildings dedicated to teaching and the main literature and law library on the Pessac-Talence-Gradignan campus.

Eiffage Construction is the lead company in the consortium, which also includes the firm of architects Patriarche and the design consulting company Arcadis, with the company Idex providing operation and maintenance.

This project of around 58,000 m² forms part of the second tranche of the Opération Campus Bordeaux project on the western section of the Pessac campus. It involves standards compliance and improvement works (reduced-mobility access, fire safety, waterproofing, thermal isolation, replacement of woodwork), plus rebuilding and extending works.

It helps realise the vision of a unified campus, which aims to improve the living space for the university’s students, researchers and administration staff, and to transform the library, increasing its capacity to 800,000 users per year.

The 10-month design phase began recently, with the works expected to begin in July 2020 and continue for 24 months, with the site remaining in use. Delivery is expected in 2022 and will mark completion of the Opération Campus Bordeaux project that began in 2014.

This project enables Eiffage to strengthen its positioning in the education sector, where it provides facilities from primary schools through to universities with design-build contracts or in public-private partnerships, as part of France’s nationwide campus plan launched in 2008.
