Eiffage Polska Budownictwo: new Volkswagen factory in Antoninek is ready

Eiffage Polska Budownictwo, a Polish subsidiary of Eiffage Construction, completed the construction of the Volswagen welding hall in Antoninek near Poznań in Poland after only 9 months of work. The original contract concerned the construction of the main work, but at the request of the contracting authority the work was extended to the second work.

In addition to the construction of the main hall’s main building and a adjoining approval building with a total area of 48,600 m², the works have been extended by the contracting authority to include finishing and fitting-out of these buildings and the construction of a pumping station.

The logistical organization and coordination of the work were essential to the success of this project in such a short time.
To meet the required completion time, most of the room’s structural elements, such as columns, support plates, beams, breakdowns and curtain walls, were constructed from prefabricated elements.

« We have planned our activities in such a way as to avoid any disruption of the transport system in Poznań and the production processes in the Volkswagen plant itself. One of these logistical challenges has been the flooring process,” said Piotr Saulewicz, Director of the Northern Region, Board Member of Eiffage Polska Budownictwo. “At the key stage of this process, in 11 hours, from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., floors totalling 4,608 square metres were installed. This work was carried out simultaneously by two flooring crews using a total of 2,304 m3 of concrete from 144 cement mixers.”

The Volkswagen welding hall in Antoninek is a new illustration of Eiffage’s know-how in the industrial construction sector. Over the past two years, Eiffage in Poland has delivered projects for Unilever in Poznań and another new plant for Volkswagen Poznań in Białężyce near września. Currently, Eiffage Budownictwo teams are building the new Mercedes-Benz engine plant in Jawor near Legnica.
