Eiffage Construction inaugurates the new surgical and interventional pole Josy Reiffer in the heart of Bordeaux

October 24, 2019, after 18 months of work by Eiffage Construction in the centre-city of Bordeaux, the new surgical and interventional pole Josy Reiffer of the Bergonian Cancer Institute was inaugurated under the high patronage of Mrs Agnès Buzyn, Minister of Solidarity and Health and in the presence of Professor François-Xavier Mahon, Director General of the Bergonian Institute, Mr Frédéric Perissat, Prefect of the Dordogne and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Michel Laforcade, Director General of ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Nicolas Florian, Mayor of Bordeaux.

This new pole, named after its protagonist Josy Reiffers, marks the new departure of the surgical and interventional pole of the Bergonian Cancer Institute.

Won in January 2016 as part of a design-realisation contract, Eiffage Construction is in charge of building this major building as agent of the grouping. This operation was built in collaboration with Eiffage Energie Systèmes in charge of the current strong and weak works.

Designed by the architectural firm Chabanne, the building is composed of exterior concrete facades covered with a cladding of Acrytherm composite mineral panels and the interior structure is made of beams and reinforced solid slabs poured in place.

This operation mobilized knowledge-make teams of Eiffage Construction on the one hand by the technical complexity related to the situation in the heart of Bordeaux in a district inscribed within the perimeter of UNESCO and on the other hand because of the short period of construction (18 months).
In total, no less than 120 companions and collaborators will have been mobilized to deliver in time and time this building of 6 levels with:

  • a basement for the radiotherapy space equipped with a bunker
  • 4 levels of 1,600m2 each with a continuing care unit, 45 hospital beds, 2 interventional imaging rooms and 6 operating rooms.

After delivery in April 2019, this new surgical and interventional pole offers healthcare professionals, patients and users, a modern, bright and functional architectural setting for high-quality care.
